When writing songs for their new album, "Radio Hymns," Americana duo Granville Automatic (Vanessa Olivarez and Elizabeth Elkins) found inspiration in Nashville history.

The 13 songs on the album draw from two centuries of Nashville history; the subject matter ranges from Timothy Demonbreun's wives to Jimi Hendrix's performances in Jefferson Street clubs in the early 1960s.

The title track was inspired by the restoration of the Ryman Auditorium. The venue had fallen into disrepair after the Grand Ole Opry moved to the Opry House in 1974. However, it was saved from the wrecking ball after Emmylou Harris and the Nash Ramblers' filmed a concert there in 1991. The subsequent Grammy-winning live album, "At the Ryman," drew attention to the decaying building and its rich history. Extensive renovations began in the summer of 1992, and building was reopened in 1994
